The Essy Report has lived in my head much longer than I probably realise. It has presented itself time and time again, over many years in the conversations I’ve had, people I’ve met and social media accounts I’ve since deleted but now, it’s here.
So often, creative success is presented as a finished product, glamorous, curated and removed from the reality of how it came to be. The decisions, the uncertainty, the practical steps and the financial side of making it work are rarely spoken about in a no-bs way that feels clear or accessible.
The Essy Report is my way of exploring that. Through conversations with creatives across the creative industry, this space is about documenting the process behind the work. The decisions, the shifts, the practicalities and the realities that don’t always get shared.
It won’t just be one type of story or one level of “success”. The aim is to build an archive here on the blog and on our YouTube channel that reflects the range of ways a creative career can take shape, from early stages to more established paths.
If you’ve ever questioned what’s possible for you within a creative field, or how people actually make it work, this is for you.
With love,
Essy
